The sailing community mourns the loss of Eric Pearson. Those of you with Hood Stoway in- mast furling systems will know Eric as the master technician who has kept these systems running all these years. Initially a Hood employee during the heyday of Stoway masts, Eric absorbed the tools and engineering drawings when the company closed its doors in 1998. From two sheds in his backyard, he has been expertly restoring the salt encrusted units sent to him back into functioning furlers.
With his passing, Indalo Marine Rigging intends to carry on his work. Owner Jim Fox brings to the table an apprenticeship as an engineer in the Portsmouth Naval Dockyards. He also, like Eric was, is just one of those guys who loves to take things apart and put them back together again. Along with his partner, Marilyn Moore, they have been servicing sailboat systems and manufacturing rigging since 1995. Armed with Eric’s equipment and meticulous notes, Indalo Marine will carry on the legacy of Eric Pearson as the service technicians for Hood Stoway drive systems.

21 Sep 2018Eric was a great guy, and indeed a master technician. Honest, straightforward, extremely knowledgeable, and always a pleasure to work with, he will be sorely missed.
Nice job on this tribute to him, and good luck to you guys in continuing his legacy.
